Stacey
Commercial, Commercial Analytics
Stacey first learned of Dyax from a former colleague who told her about a position on the company's Web site – the job that she holds now. A biotech veteran with experience in larger companies as well as start-ups, Stacey admits to being a bit hesitant about joining a company planning to launch its first product. But during her interview, she got the impression that Dyax was far more than a traditional, small biotechnology firm, and her experience since joining the company in May 2008 has borne that out.
"Dyax is an innovative research organization with a validated technology platform in phage display that provides an established revenue stream. While a lot of small biotechnology companies want to design novel therapies, they don't want to realize them and deliver those therapies to patients themselves. But Dyax has the vision, enthusiasm and passion to break into the small list of fully integrated biotechnology companies that design, develop, and commercialize novel therapies."
"While Dyax is just becoming a commercial organization, there really is a connection to patients that resonates throughout the organization. The environment is full of passionate, committed people who believe in the promise of the company and our products."
Stan
Research, Molecular Biology
As one of the company's first employees, Stan has a unique perspective on working here. In 1987, he joined Protein Engineering Corp, one of two companies that merged to form Dyax. At that time, he reflects, it was a small start-up doing "science on tabletops." Over the years, he's seen Dyax evolve into a fully integrated company on the cusp of commercializing a novel therapy—for which he did the original cloning work.
Stan attributes his longevity at Dyax to the company's cutting-edge research and its core values of teamwork, respect, integrity and commitment. "Dyax stands out for its breadth of research opportunities, and for its people and culture. We have a unique blend of personalities and talents. People are always willing to go out of their way to help you. You also feel a deep sense of community, because so many of our employees participate in outreach events for local charities."
"Working at Dyax feels more like an education than a job. It's a hybrid between research and school. You're constantly learning and have the opportunity to be involved in many different types of projects. There's always something new for me to take away from my experiences here."
Nicole
Administration, Investor Relations
With a bachelor's degree in music, Investor Relations wasn't Nicole's initial goal for a career. However, she joined an asset management company after graduation and made the transition into IR and the world of financial services. After 7 years, she was looking for new career challenges and opportunities. While the switch to the biotechnology realm was intriguing, what really brought Nicole to Dyax is the culture.
"Dyax allows you to be yourself and embraces you for who you are. The company has a strong employee- and patient-centric focus, and balances those two driving forces well. This is a place where people truly embody the values that the organization sets forth, and you can see them in your experiences at Dyax every day."
"You also experience the organization's strong emphasis on patients in need and giving back to the community. The level of involvement across the company in the numerous charity events our Outreach Committee sponsors and participates in is astounding, and adds to the community feeling here at Dyax."
